Upcoming Public Information Meetings for November 5th Election Aggregation Issues in Twelve Licking County Townships
In the upcoming 2024 General Election a dozen Licking County Townships will ask voters for approval of electric and natural gas aggregation. Voters in Bennington, Burlington, Hanover, Hartford, Jersey, Liberty, Madison, Mary Ann, Monroe, Newark, Newton and Saint Albans Townships will consider approving aggregation.
If approved by voters these townships would join the Licking County Aggregation Program which currently includes the cities of Newark, Heath, Johnstown and Pataskala; and the Villages of Hanover, Saint Louisville, Alexandria, Gratiot, Utica, Hartford, Kirkersville, Hebron and Buckeye Lake.
The goal of adopting aggregation status is to allow residents to purchase the fuel component of their utility service (kilowatts of electricity and cubic feet of natural gas) at a wholesale rate and more favorable than the utility rates. Simply stated – the goal is to save residents money!
To provide information and answer questions a pair of public meetings are scheduled for early October, on the verge of the start of early voting, one in eastern and one in western Licking County.
The evening of Thursday, October 3rd the public is invited to a meeting at the Hanover Township Hall (at 1525 Rock Haven Road) from 6:30 till 7:30pm. That same evening from 7:30 till 8:30pm a similar information session will be held at the Jersey Township Hall (at 1481 Mink Street Road). Residents are invited from any of the townships with aggregation issues on the November ballot.
